Hand painted patterns can add graphics that draw the up and around the room.
An old world pouncing technique is a very dramatic finish but really adds a richness to a formal dining room.	Stenciling medalions on ceilings or head of a bed can bring a focal point in the room (you can even glue gems on top for more sparkle).
